Section 4 of the Mayan Train, which will run from Izamal to Cancun, is 97% complete, informed this morning the CEO of Empresas ICA, Guadalupe Phillips Margain.
During President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s daily conference, which this morning was led by the Secretary of the Interior, Luis María Alcalde, because the president is on a tour of South America, the ICA executive explained that the track on the jungle side has already been completed, so all that remains is to finish the highway side, such as laying the rails on the sleepers and the first layer of ballast on the tracks.
“The sleepers are in place, the rails are welded and we are placing them on the sleeper, and the first layer of ballast on the track. what’s next? Both on the jungle side and on the highway side we are already doing the leveling on the second level on the jungle side, and on the highway side it will be finished in the next few weeks”, she said.
She also mentioned that work is also being done on the construction of the five stations that the train will have in this section 4, which already have a general advance of 76%.
This section will have a length of 239 kilometers of double track that will run from Izamal to Cancun Airport and will pass through 9 municipalities of Yucatan and Quintana Roo. Near this section, the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) is building a hotel, so these works have generated more than 62 thousand jobs.
