A week away from the Anniversary of the Independence of Mexico, preparations are underway for the traditional “Día del Grito” in the city of Merida, as workers at the Government Palace are maintaining the building so that it can receive thousands of people on September 15.
On the occasion of the September festivities, various agencies have put up decorations alluding to the celebration, and the workers at the Government Palace are working hard to leave it impeccable, so that Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, for the fifth time, can lead the independence rally.
The employees are maintaining the bell, and a few days ago they placed the red and white lights that illuminate the Government Palace; they are also painting parts of the building so that it will look immaculate on this date so awaited by Mexicans, which is the eve of the commemorative parade that takes place every year in the historic center on September 16.
Meridanos say they are looking forward to the date, since in addition to uniting them as a country, they are proud to celebrate being Mexican.
“It is only a week away, we must recognize that Mexicans like to party, and they leave political and ideological differences aside to toast for the freedom of our country, it is great because there are only two things we love more than drinks and food, that is to shout “VIVA MEXICO”… as the Mexican Independence is the celebration that unites us as a nation,” said Erminio Salas.
