With the arrival of September in the country, the cold front season is upon us. These meteorological phenomena, caused by the interaction of cold and warm air masses, bring changes in temperatures in several regions of Mexico.
There will be 51 cold fronts in the 2023-2024 season, which will cover from September 2023 to May 2024, according to the National Meteorological Service.
Cold fronts are cold air masses that collide with warm air masses, triggering a process that intensifies the cold air and causes atmospheric instability. The main effects of these meteorological events include low temperatures, frost, intense winds, strong waves, abundant cloudiness and drizzle.
Most of the cold fronts that affect Mexico originate in the North Pole and pass through the United States of America before arriving in the country.
