The Federal Ministry of Health (SSA) reported on Wednesday that Yucatan completed two consecutive weeks in first place in the country with the most confirmed cases of dengue, exceeded the figure of 3,000 patients, and reported two new deaths due to probable dengue in one week, of which one has already been confirmed.
The SSA revealed that, in the country, including Yucatan, not only dengue patients are increasing, but also deaths from the disease.
From week 34 (from August 22 to 28) to week 35 (from Tuesday, August 29 to Monday, September 4) of 2023, confirmed deaths from dengue in Mexico practically tripled, from 13 to 30; the deaths under study fell from 174 to 173, and those discarded rose from 113 to 125.
According to the SSA, in week 35, 28 deaths due to probable dengue were reported, nine per day, in the country. The overall number went from 300 to 328 in that period.
In Yucatan, confirmed deaths from dengue increased from two to three, and deaths under study, from nine to 10, from week 34 to 35. Deaths in which dengue was ruled out remained at eight.
In total, from January 1 to Monday, September 4, Yucatan has already reported that 21 people died from probable dengue.
As for the sick, the SSA reported yesterday that Yucatan remains in first place in the nation both in probable cases and in confirmed cases and estimated cases of dengue.
From week 34 to 35 in Yucatan, probable cases (with symptoms) of dengue increased by 25.8%, from 12,047 to 15,163, that is, in seven days 3,116 patients went to the doctor. About 445 a day.
Confirmed cases (by laboratory), in turn, increased 21%, from 2,636 to 3,192, which means that there were 556 new cases in one week, that is, 79.4 per day or three per hour.
A week earlier, in Yucatán, the new confirmed cases were 589 (84 per day, almost four per hour).
