Yucatán continues to hold the title of the safest state in the country, ranking first nationally with the lowest crime rate in July, with a rate of 104.44 crimes per 100,000 inhabitants. This figure represented a decrease of -1.9 percent in cases, going from 2,482 in 2022 to 2,436 in 2023.

In last month’s report by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), it was reported that the state maintains its positive indicators, registering a crime rate more than nine times lower than the national average, which stood at 976.29 crimes per 100,000 inhabitants.

Furthermore, Yucatán remains the state with the lowest rate of intentional homicides, with only 0.90 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and the lowest rate of vehicle theft with 1.07 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

In residential burglary, it ranked second; in street robbery, fourth; and in terms of extortion, it was among the top four states with 0.30 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

All of these achievements are the result of the security policy led by Mauricio Vila, the Governor of Yucatán, which earned the State Security Department (SSP) the prestigious international “Triple Arc” award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
