Esperanza Ortega Azar, president of CANACINTRA, stressed the importance of continuous training, professionalization of security forces and alliances with civil society.

At a press conference, Ortega Azar informed that this forum in Mérida is part of a series of meetings at a national level that CANACINTRA will hold with the purpose of formulating proposals with a view to the 2024 elections.

Professionalization and dignification of police officers

Abelardo Casares Add, local president of CANACINTRA in Yucatán, emphasized the need to strengthen legal certainty, the training and professionalization of law enforcement officers, the use of technology and the promotion of a culture of prevention.

He also stressed the importance of dignifying police work in order to achieve effective coordination and joint work.

Casares Add expressed his desire for security forces throughout the country to have working conditions comparable to those in Yucatan, including competitive salaries and benefits such as scholarships in private schools for the children of active police officers as well as economic scholarships.

It was announced that CANACINTRA will continue to organize similar forums in San Luis Potosí, Torreón and Mexico City, where the opinions of industry leaders on topics such as innovation, foreign trade and public policies will be gathered to enrich their proposals.
