According to data released on Friday, October 6th, by the State Government, as of 2020, 19 percent of the total population in the state of Yucatán came from other states.
In this regard, it was reported that from 2000 to the present, there has been an increase of nearly 50 percent in the number of people coming to Yucatán. This has led to the consideration of certain reforms to housing legislation.
Therefore, the authorities of the state announced that a package of initiatives will be sent to the State Congress to provide legal certainty, combat segregation, and protect historical heritage.
It was detailed that the changes would be related to housing law, real estate developments, and municipal government.
Additionally, two new laws related to human settlements and urban environmental justice will be proposed.
