A bus mostly carrying migrants crashed this Friday, October 6th, in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, killing 18 people, according to a statement from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO).
The accident occurred on the Oaxaca-Cuacnopalan highway at 5 a.m. local time. Among the victims are two women and three children. Authorities say all the victims are from Venezuela and Haiti.
Images posted by authorities on Facebook show the large bus overturned and severely damaged on a curvy stretch of the mountainous road.
At least 27 people were injured and transported to nearby hospitals. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
