Agents from the State Investigation Police conducted the initial investigations on Saturday, October 14th, regarding a stabbing incident that occurred in the early hours today at “La Carmela” bar on Calle 60, between 55 and 57, just half a block from Santa Lucía Park.

At this time, it is known that a dispute occurred inside the bar in the early hours of today, during which one person brandished a knife and injured another.

The injured individual reportedly left the establishment to seek help, leaving bloodstains on the east sidewalk of Calle 60, where paramedics aided. Municipal Police officers from Mérida were informed as it falls under their jurisdiction.

On the morning of this same Friday, the location was temporarily secured by State Investigation Police officers from the Public Security Secretariat after conducting preliminary inquiries. They later left the scene, which was then handed over to the Municipal Police.

There is no official report from the corporation responsible for security in Mérida’s downtown area.
