Over the weekend, a young couple was severely assaulted by waiters at the ‘El Borrego Viudo’ taco restaurant in the Tacubaya neighborhood of Mexico City due to an alleged overcharge on their bill.
This incident, which took place in the Miguel Hidalgo borough, was documented in several videos and shared on social media.
A woman and a man stated that they visited a taco establishment located at the intersection of Revolución and Héroes de Churubusco streets with the intention of enjoying a pleasant evening.
However, when they requested the bill, they refused to pay it as it appeared that the amount exceeded the value of what they had consumed.
After making it clear that they would not pay the altered bill, several waiters from the taco restaurant proceeded to assault them.
Onlookers shouted “thugs” at the assailants who witnessed the incident.
The young couple was left with bloody noses, and they did not receive assistance from the restaurant staff.
Regarding this, the Mexico City Secretariat of Public Security (SSC) stated that, following a report of an incident at a dining establishment, they detained a 21-year-old employee as the potential individual responsible for initiating the aggression against the customers.
