The driver’s license is one of the most important documents when driving a car or any other vehicle, not only in Mérida, but also in all of México, it identifies the driver and the unit itself, and it is also an accreditation before the authorities which demonstrates that the driver has the abilities and skills to drive.

How much is the fine for not having a license?

In the state, the current Traffic Regulations state that the fine for driving with an expired license ranges from $868 pesos to $1,737 pesos, although many agents are tolerant when applying the penalties and prefer to give a warning.

Requirements to apply for the license (original and copy):

  • Official Identification of the Natural Person
  • Proof of Address
  • Medical certificate: To pass the medical examinations that will be practiced by the medical department of the Secretariat.
  • Birth Certificate
  • Official Payment Receipt
