The Israeli Embassy in Mexico, the Organization of Israeli Businessmen in Mexico (MIBA) and Maguen Group called for a march to demand the immediate release of the kidnapped hostages and condemn the Hamas attacks.
Through a statement, the diplomatic authorities said that the congregation is not intended only for Jews or Israelis, but they seek that anyone who empathizes with the cause being against terrorism and in favor of peace can attend.
Furthermore, they explained that it is one of the ways they have found to pay tribute to the civilians and innocents who died due to the attacks perpetrated by Hamas in some areas of Israel.
“(…) march and demonstration in support of Israel, calling for the immediate release of the kidnapped hostages (…) it is a way to pay tribute to the people who have lost their lives, so far, in this war”, it could be read.

On October 13, the Embassy of Israel in Mexico denounced and condemned acts of vandalism at its facilities and its memorial to the victims of Hamas attacks, after some citizens demonstrated outside.
“Around 150 people participated in a demonstration that turned into an act of violence and destruction. The demonstrators vandalized the memorial to the victims of the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel, painted graffiti on the streets near the Embassy and destroyed a special work of art that was created to celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Mexico,” it read.
Through a written statement, they made it clear that they support freedom of expression and citizen protest; however, they stated that Hamas is a terrorist group and does not represent the inhabitants of Gaza.
“Hamas is a murderous terrorist organization, supported, financed and trained by Iran, which uses cruel and inhumane practices, equal to those used by ISIS a few years ago and which, even before last Saturday’s terrorist attack against Israeli citizens, has been torturing Gazans for years,” they continued.
Finally, they thanked Mexico City’s Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) for the assistance they provided during the events.
Embassy asked for a stronger position from Mexico
It should also be recalled that last October 9, Israeli diplomatic authorities in the country requested the federal government to take a stronger position against Hamas attacks, after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) announced that he would adhere to the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States (CPEUM), which establishes non-intervention and self-determination of peoples.
Through official communication they stated that neutrality would imply, ultimately, supporting terrorism and urged condemnation of the acts of terrorism being experienced by the State of Israel, which they described as “such a cruel and inhumane massacre”.
“As history has taught us repeatedly, maintaining a neutral position instead of taking sides implies, in the last instance, backing and supporting terrorism,” the statement read, while AMLO assured that the Israeli Embassy has the right to disagree and they are respected but stated that Mexico does not want war.
