During the morning of Thursday, September 28th, 2023, a couple of tourists had the pleasant fortune and surprise of finding a jaguar swimming in the waters of the Ría Lagartos Protected Natural Reserve.
According to the report, the couple went for a ride aboard a boat from the Costa Oriente Tours group: the couple could not believe it, but they captured the imposing feline on video as it crossed the river, approximately 30 meters wide.
During the surprising, rare sighting, the tour guide stopped the boat for a moment so they could appreciate the feline and not scare it away. Moments later, the jaguar climbed into the mangrove.
