Shouting “We are three powers and this one is not for sale,” workers of the Judicial Branch of the Federation and citizens marched on the morning of Sunday, October 22, to protest against the intention of federal legislators and senators to extinguish 13 trusts under the argument of that these resources represent a privilege for judges and collaborators.
“National counterweight judicial power” was another of the slogans through which the workers made their way, supported by a batucada (a group of musicians playing drums).
Carrying banners, blankets, and flags, men and women, children, young people, and even older adults, on foot or in wheelchairs, marched on Paseo de Montejo, from 45th Street to the Monumento a la Patria.
More than 60% of the 55 thousand workers benefit from these trusts that cover their labor benefits for 20 million pesos, it was explained.
Today, workers feel attacked by the Executive and Legislative powers, “and all because someone thought to say that these resources are a privilege handled in a corrupt manner.” The participants of the march signed a document that they would deliver to local senators to defend the legitimate rights of Judiciary workers
