Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal continued in Dzilam de Bravo with the distribution of school supplies and uniform kits through the Impulso Escolar program and also delivered equipment for the local Cultural Space.

Accompanied by Mayor Daniel Armando Herrera Rivera, the governor highlighted his commitment to transform Yucatan, prioritizing those most in need.

Vila Dosal emphasized that this support goes to those who need it most and is focused on consolidating Dzilam de Bravo as an attractive tourist destination, capable of attracting more visitors and providing additional income to local families.

Support for Dzilam de Bravo’s fishermen

The governor reiterated his commitment to the fishing sector by expanding the Peso a Peso program, originally designed for farmers and cattle ranchers, to include fishermen.

He also acknowledged their cooperation in overcoming the damage caused by tropical storms. Vila Dosal provided support with materials and the fishermen contributed their labor in the reconstruction of the dock.

The Peso a Peso aquaculture program of the Secretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sepasy) allocated more than 6 million pesos to benefit more than 650 fishermen and fisherwomen.

In its support for tourism, the state government improved infrastructure with the repair of 34 mixed-use docks, including the reconstruction of a 50-meter “t-shaped” docking dock and the creation of a 200-meter path to the “Elepetén” cenote, complemented with a traffic circle and a tourist palapa. In addition, a wooden swing was installed in Punta Arenas. All this represented an investment of 1.7 million pesos.

Investment of almost 5 million pesos for tour operators.

In addition, marine engines were acquired for 27 workers involved in tourist trips, with an investment of more than 4.8 million pesos. This initiative promotes innovation and diversification of products, services, and activities essential to increase the port’s competitiveness and attract tourists and visitors. In total, 250 people benefited.

To further strengthen the tourism industry, training, and new tourism product development programs were implemented. This included training in “Hygienic food handling” and “Service professionalization” for 46 people in the sector, guaranteeing a quality experience for visitors.

In an additional effort, a local cooperative received equipment that included caps, binoculars, portable radios, life jackets, fishing sweaters, removable pants, and kayaks.

As part of the tourism promotion efforts, the “Ojo de agua dulce en el mar de Dzilam de Bravo” experience was included in the 365 Days in Yucatan campaign.

Later, together with the head of the Secretariat of Social Development (Sedesol), Roger Torres Peniche, and the director of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF), María Teresa Boehm Calero, the governor continued with the delivery of support from the state scheme Impulso Escolar, which benefits parents with an economic saving of 2,950 pesos per child.

During the delivery, the head of Sedesol indicated that “this program is not only the more than 200,000 children who receive their school supplies and uniforms or the breakfasts, which are more than 14 million packages, but all the people behind this, who make the uniforms made by 100% Yucatecan hands, are also benefited. So Impulso Escolar also means employment and economic development”.
