Only three out of every seven vehicles in circulation have insurance, according to the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS).
“If we are at a traffic light and we look at 10 cars, it is most likely that seven could cause an accident and not respond,” said Norma Alicia Rosas, director of AMIS during the launch of the campaign “We all ask you, if you drive, don’t drink,” launched by the Carlos Slim and Social Research Foundations A.C. (FISAC).
He added that based on surveys related to AMIS, there is a high percentage of drivers who are in favor of third-party protection insurance in case of a road accident, insurance that has an average cost of about 1,400 pesos per year.
“Without specifying figures, this type of insurance is being implemented at the state level, as they become aware of its relevance”, added the directive.
Norma Alicia Rosas, director of AMIS concluded that there is a strong campaign to create awareness in the different states of the country on the prevention of this type of accident.
