In compliance with the instructions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reports:

On October 1st, Mexican citizen Andrés Roemer Slomianski was detained by the Israeli Police for extradition purposes, at the request of the Mexican government.

The authority requesting the extradition of citizen Roemer Slomianski is the Justice Prosecutor’s Office of Mexico City.

Although there are no extradition treaties with the State of Israel, the detention for extradition purposes was carried out based on the principles of international reciprocity and cooperation, stemming from the strong bilateral relationship between both countries.

The Mexican government, through the SRE, appreciates the reciprocity shown by the State of Israel and reaffirms its commitment to continue monitoring and promptly addressing other pending cases with that nation.
