The dialogue with Minister Norma Piña would take place prior to the vote in the Senate to eliminate 13 trusts of the Judicial Branch of the Federation.

Minister Norma Piña, President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), agreed to talk with senators about the trusts of the Judicial Branch of the Federation.

The meeting would take place prior to the vote in the Upper Chamber to eliminate 13 trusts for an amount of 15 billion pesos, after their approval by the Chamber of Deputies.

By means of an informative card, Minister Norma Piña expressed her firm willingness to enter into a dialogue with the Board of Directors and the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo).

The objective, according to the communiqué, is to ensure that the meeting takes place through the appropriate and competent institutional channel in which there is political plurality.

The Minister President of the Supreme Court requested to define the regulatory framework for the dialogue.

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) maintains that the extinction of trusts will affect workers, while President Andrés Manuel López Obrador “pledged” his word that this will not be the case.

The Mexican president assures that the trusts in question are used by ministers for personal purposes such as plastic surgeries.

The controversy over the trusts led workers of the Judicial Power to initiate a nationwide work stoppage lasting until October 24, when the vote on the extinction of the trusts is expected to take place in the Senate of the Republic.

On October 22, massive marches were held in at least 20 cities of the country, in defense of the Judicial Power of the Federation.
