On Tuesday, October 3rd, the Campeche Tourism Department and Angeline Arceo Castillo and Cielo Ramírez Reyes presented the scheduled activities to be held during the 2023 San Francisco Fair. This fair is set to feature 13 consecutive days of activities encompassing cultural, sports, traditional games, and the installation of amusement rides.
“We are very happy to be part of these celebrations in our neighborhood. This is a way to keep our traditions alive, to ensure that our fair lives on for another year,” said Cielo Ramírez, the Queen of the Fair.
The activities officially commenced on October 3rd with the coronation of Cielo Ramírez Reyes as the Queen of the 2023 San Francisco Fair and Angeline Arceo Castillo as “Linda Sanfrancisqueña 2023″ at the Circo Teatro Renacimiento. This will formally kick off the Franciscan festivities.
There will be over 13 days of celebration featuring 25 artistic and cultural activities, culminating on October 15th. The aim is to preserve the customs of the traditional neighborhoods’ patron saint festivals over time while promoting local consumption.
It’s worth noting that these celebrations are in honor of the city’s patron saint. In 2023, Campeche is celebrating the 483rd anniversary of its founding. On October 4th, at six in the morning, the traditional “Mañanitas” to San Francisco were sung inside the church.
Among other activities planned for this celebration is a conference titled “The Campeche Lottery, History, and Tradition,” presented by the city’s historian, Aarón Pérez Durán, on October 9th inside the Church of San Francisco.
