On the morning of this Friday, October 27, a group of workers from the state company Sistema Tele Yucatán held a protest in front of the television station’s facilities, located at the confluence of Pérez Ponce Avenue and 56th Street in Mérida.
The protesters state that they are victims of workplace harassment and persecution.
A month ago, workers protested at the Tele Yucatán facilities. Today, due to the inaction of the labor authorities, the protesters closed Pérez Ponce Avenue, which unleashed road chaos near the television station.
The workers anticipated that the blockade would last an hour, with the aim of the authorities meeting their demands. At 10 in the morning, they cleared the road and suspended the demonstration.
The protesters are employees affiliated with the Radio and Television Industry Workers Union, who work at Tele Yucatán, which held its first protest sit-in on September 14.
The movement leaders announced that if they did not receive a response from the authorities, the next step would be a strike.
