Tekax and Sisal are two places where the upcoming annular solar eclipse will be seen better than in other locations. Thanks to that tour operators in Yucatan report an increase in tour sales of up to 25% for these destinations, which is why they predict that October will be a good month since it is usually low season.
Ana Laura Aras Salazar, director of Siranda Group Tour Operadora de Mérida, pointed out that this increase in sales has been because, together with state tourism authorities, a campaign was launched to promote circuits in these destinations so that visitors can witness this astronomical phenomenon on October 14.
“We hope to have a great improvement in the tours demand, this increases transfers, flights, and hotel occupancy. It is a phenomenon that attracts attention and if you add the gastronomic offer and everything that Yucatan has, it becomes an important attraction,” indicated the interviewee, who said that Tekax has a product to see the eclipse, while Sisal has two.
He added that outside of these two Magical Towns, the ones that have the greatest demand to be visited are Izamal and Valladolid, but Maní has been standing out, since in addition to the gastronomic offer of this community and what the meliponarios (bee farms) imply, the experiences with cross stitch embroidery that are being carried out.
