A woman lost her life when she was hit by a car on Monday, October 2nd while trying to cross Merida’s Periferico.

The fatal accident occurred just 120 meters from a pedestrian bridge, in southern Merida, right next to Calle 60 Sur Exit, and the Hospital Materno Infantil.

At the site of the accident, it was found that a woman, who had not been identified while trying to cross the road, was hit by a Nissan Versa sedan.

The driver was detained by the authorities while the corresponding investigations were carried out.

It should be noted that the pedestrian bridge was relatively close to where the deceased was hit by the vehicle.

Forensics personnel, members of the State Investigation Police and SSP agents were on the scene.

It should be recalled that earlier in the morning there was another fatal accident on Merida’s Periferico, in the west side of town, near the exit to Caucel, where a cyclist was run over and died on the spot.
