Yucatan closes first stage in para-athletics with 15 medals

CANCUN, QRoo, October 27, 2023.-The Yucatan team that takes part in the Paranacionales Conade 2023 closed its participation in the discipline of para-athletics in its first stage with 15 gold medals, 6 silver and 7 bronze.

José Flores Peniche won his third silver medal of the event in the 400-meter flat T11 senior youth category with 57.30 seconds. He was selected for the Parapan American Games in Santiago de Chile in previous days and also won first place in the 100 and 200 meters flat.

Alejandra Espinoza Chavez also added another gold medal for the cause in the shot put F11 junior youth with a mark of 6.99 meters. The third gold medal of the day went to Victoria Cetina Escobedo in the F32 senior youth nail throw with 7.83 meters.

The only second-place medal of the third day of competition went to Christian Espinoza Chavez in the shot put F41 junior youth with a mark of 5.80 meters. The second stage of para-athletics will begin on Sunday, October 29 with the senior youth category and Yucatan will take part with 9 athletes.
