Restaurants anticipate a spill of more than 10 million pesos at the Yucatán Xmatkuil Fair, said the president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Foods Industry (Canirac), Claudia González Góngora.
She said that it is expected that the sales will be good for the 24 businesses that will participate in the fairgrounds, and they have already begun hiring personnel.
She considered that the Xmatkuil Fair has grown year after year and is an important milestone in the economic recovery of the region since one of the most notable aspects is the attraction of national and international tourists to visit the region, which is why it also benefits various industries.
“In addition, Yucatecans consider the Fair as part of their culture and it is an opportunity to show the gastronomic wealth of the region,” he noted.
Currently, the leader commented, work is being carried out in the two warehouses (Mayapán and Palenque) that house the 41 restaurant locations of 24 brands. “There will be fast food, Yucatecan food, pizzas and other varieties from other Mexican states.”
González Góngora said that workers will be offered incentives, since the day is from when the facility opens until activities close at two in the morning.
This is intended to ensure that staff are available to cover the long hours and also to reward workers’ efforts.
The Xmatkuil Fair is a tradition deeply rooted in the culture of Yucatán and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Its success depends largely on the dedication and effort of those who work there, from salespeople to security personnel, among others.
