The trial that Shakira was facing in Spain for tax fraud determined that the singer must pay a fine and was sentenced to three years in prison. 

The singer could avoid being imprisoned if she covers a fee of 430 thousand euros in addition to paying the 7.3 million euros fine. 

Shakira acknowledged before the court that she committed tax fraud of 14.5 million euros between 2012 and 2014. She accepted the judge’s ruling because she intends to end the process even though her lawyers believed she had weapons to defend her innocence; She avoided fighting.

The singer still has an open administrative case for the 2011 fiscal year that she accuses of being “nonsense,” but she trusts that the authorities will decide appropriately.
