A couple was arrested for trying to steal a motorcycle in Cozumel and verbally attacking municipal police officers
The couple who was trying to force the key of a motorcycle belonging to another person was placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) for the crime of Disobedience and Resistance to the Arrest, after not following the instructions of the officers who had to subdue them.
The inicdent took place at the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood when a Police unit received the report from C5. Upon arrival they observed a man motioning for them to approach him. The resident told them that a man and a woman were trying to steal his motorcycle.
The agents approached, noticing that the woman was sitting on the motorcycle and that the man was next to her, and when they asked them if everything was in order, the individual responded with insults so they got out of the unit to ask for his license and prove ownership of the unit, but the woman could not prove it.
Then, the woman began to insult the agents, and that was when she and her companion were identified as the persons who had stolen the motorcycle.
Following the procedures, they were informed that they were formally detained and both were transferred to the Public Security facilities and later to the FGE to be made available to the corresponding Public Administration authorities.
