Mérida, Yucatán, November 24, 2023.- The wide variety of areas and attractions of the Gran Parque La Plancha, which make it the best place of this type in the country, was presented by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal to members of the Council Business Coordinator (CCE) of Yucatán.
Together with Yucatecan businessmen, Vila Dosal took a tour of this new point of coexistence, which for years was a long-awaited desire of Yucatecan families and is now a reality as a result of their efforts before the Federation, consolidating itself as a tourist attraction that promotes jobs and a better economy for everyone.
As a first point, the Governor showed them the modernization work of the University of the Arts of Yucatán (Unay), a work that is progressing at a good pace and includes the rehabilitation of more than 2 kilometers of streets and sidewalks, and that will allow this school, which is the most important in the southeast of the country, go from 400 to 1,500 students, having better spaces and equipped for their preparation.
From there, accompanied by the president of the CCE of Yucatán, Alejandro Guerrero Lozano, Vila Dosal supervised the operation of this 22-hectare park, where more than 3 thousand trees were planted to provide a new green lung for the enjoyment of locals and visitors. making it a driving force for the economy and jobs in the area.
Together with the Yucatecan business community, Vila Dosal walked the entire surface which has a linear walkway that runs through the park, they visited the wagon area, as well as its most important attractions that are almost ready such as the Gastronomic Market, the skatepark, the museums, the circular walkway, artificial lake, auditorium, and amphitheater. More than 129 video surveillance cameras linked to the C5i of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) were also installed in this park.
When supervising the different areas, the Governor pointed out that this project is divided into 4 sections: the first, houses the outdoor gym, the car concessions, and the powerhouse; In the second, there are children’s games, an interactive fountain, and dining rooms; in the third, there is the access, the water mirror, a skatepark, a Pet Park and a Gastronomic Market; and finally, in the fourth, there is the amphitheater, children’s games, and the large artificial lake.
As he passed by, Vila Dosal testified that this space is already an important point of coexistence for families, as he was able to greet many of them who were enjoying their morning by taking a walk through the new areas, who let him know how happy they were. They meet the Gran Parque La Plancha since it has changed the image of this area of the city.
Also, he confirmed the construction of the IE-Tram station and explained about the recently inaugurated Museum of Light, the first in dissemination of science outside the central campus and Mexico City; In addition, he confirmed the construction work of the Railway Museum, which will expand the offer with one more option to visit and learn.
Among the benefits of this work, they highlight that better use is being made of an area with a lot of history to make it part of the present and future of the entity, as a place of coexistence where families will enjoy sports, recreational, cultural and educational activities, At the same time, the number of visitors will increase and the existing hotel offer will be taken advantage of.
So that families can explore it, it has a 712-meter linear walkway and a circular walkway, a viewing point, 8-car concessions, an interactive fountain, an amphitheater with capacity for 10,000 people, an artificial lake, a water mirror, bathroom modules, a 2-meter recreational trail. kilometers, skating rink, and boardwalk; Gastronomic Market with island, administrative office, restaurants and stores, and the Railway and Light Museums.
Likewise, it has parking with 301 spaces; sports garden with a multipurpose field for fast soccer, billet, volleyball, etc.; outdoor gym; pet park with an area of 1,562 meters; 4 children’s play areas.
This work is so important that there are other projects that derived from it, such as the rehabilitation of more than 2 kilometers of streets and sidewalks, the Mérida City Council painted the facades of the homes that surround it, the IE-Tram station, the Tourist-Gastronomic Corridor, the remodeling of the Plaza Grande and the transition from the School to the University of the Arts.
