Kanasín, Yucatán on October 31, 2023.- The Kanasín Senior Citizens’ House lived a different day because from early in the morning, dozens of older adults began to build their altars to remember family members, friends, and acquaintances who had died. they have advanced.

Tamales, pibes, and bread of the dead were some of the elements that began to be placed on the altars, which were carefully placed to celebrate Hanal Pixán, or Day of the Dead, and which Mayor Edwin Bojórquez enjoyed with admiration and respect. Within the framework of the visit of Mayor Edwin Bojórquez to the Casa del Adulto Mayor, the altar contest was held, which by the way was quite close due to the quality of work of all the participants.

The winning team was made up of Laura Briceño, Mirna Bonilla, Hortensia Briceño, Teresita Salazar, Leonardo Aké, Vitaliana Polanco, Silvia Erisa, Eutalia Arceo, Candy Moo, Ricardo Moguel, Juana López, Landy Herrera, Lidia Uicab, Celia Ortiz, Magdalena Álvarez, Genny Morales, Morena Polanco, Luis Polanco, Wilma Rosado, Minelia Burgos, Genoveva Noh and Lupita Fuentes. They took a pib as a gift, while the second place took the bread of the dead.

Doña Genoveva Noh Koh, a visitor to the CAM, gave the explanation in Mayan and spoke about what the altar should have on each of the levels. While in group I, the explanation was given by Lourdes Sánchez Rejón and Julio López.
