Mérida will dress-up in culture, magic and the colors of Christmas

With the official lighting of the traditional Tree at the Paseo de Montejo Remate next Friday, the Mérida City Council will begin the “Magical Holidays” bringing art, culture and fun to everyone the corners of the city so that families can enjoy the magic and fun of these dates.

At the press conference held in the Colonia Mexico park led by Silvia Sarti González, director of the Municipal DIF on behalf of Mayor Alejandro Ruz Castro; María José Cáceres Delgado, director of Social Development and José Collado Soberanis, director of Municipal Public Services, the complete program of the festivities was announced, which this year includes the Christmas caravan tour along with the presentation of entertainment shows in different parks and public spaces across the state capital.

In this regard, the director of the DIF, Silvia Sarti González, reported that the programming of free events contemplated during December and until January 6, are aimed at the whole family and include children’s shows, regional comedy shows, the presentation of the Children’s Orchestra, the academic choir of the Autonomous University of Yucatán, theatrical plays, music, dance exhibitions, and more.

In the presence of residents, families, and representatives of the media, the official mentioned that the official start of the “Magical Holidays” will take place on Friday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. with the lighting of the 3 trees. Christmas celebrations at the Remate del Paseo de Montejo and in the Juan Pablo II and Fraccionamiento del Parque parks.
