Rodrigo Pacheco Méndez, from Mérida achieved a milestone for the State and the country by becoming the first two-time Mexican champion in the Yucatan Tennis World Cup.
And what a way to do it, with great authority, by beating a tough German opponent Max Schoenhaus in the final, 6-0, 6-3. In this way, the Yucatecan left-hander did not give up a single set on his way to the title at Club Campestre.
“I am very proud to repeat, to be a two-time champion, to close my youth stage here at home,” declared the best youth racket in the country.
“We have a two-time Yucatecan champion!” Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal celebrated by sharing the news on his social networks.
“Many congratulations to Rodrigo Pacheco for winning the Yucatán Tennis Cup and making history by becoming the first Yucatecan to win the two-time championship in this important competition. “You are a source of pride for Yucatán!” the Governor published.
Rodrigo occupies the lead in the world junior rankings of the International Tennis Federation and with a good result in the last competition of the year he will secure the top spot.
Starting in 2024, he will take the step towards professionalism at the age of 18, waiting for him to break into the big tournaments.
