United is the latest airline to announce that it will launch service directly to Tulum’s soon-to-open airport. Specifically on March 31, it will begin service between several hubs and the popular beach destination. The airline is also increasing their flight capacity to the region with more winter flights to Cancun International Airport, and other destinations in Latin America.

The airline will operate service to Tulum from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), and subsequently add Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as seasonal service on May 23, 2023.

The combined routes will add up to 22 weekly flights to the Tulum Airport, which is scheduled to open on Dec. 1, 2023. Tickets for the new routes to Tulum go on sale on Nov. 18, 2023, through their website and app.

“Tulum is at the top of a lot of travel lists – great beaches and restaurants, and a region featuring a rich history and spectacular natural beauty,” United’s senior vice president of Network Planning and Alliances Patrick Quayle said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure.

United is the latest airline to announce service to Tulum, with American AirlinesSpirit Airlines, and Delta Air Lines announcing new routes earlier this year

United Airlines also revealed an increase in flights to other regions in Mexico, with over 200 weekly flights from the United States to Cancun, Mexico — the highest amount the airline has flown during the winter season.
