Yucatán is ranked number one by the Travel Lemming guide, which annually publishes a list of the 50 best places to travel to highlight the hidden gems that its editorial team believes are ready to be discovered next year.

The guide is written by locals and experts helping to explore emerging destinations around the world and is read by 10 million people a year. This year’s list focuses on the theme of “slow travel” and is headed by the state of Yucatán.

Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Secretary of Tourism of Yucatán, celebrated that Yucatán has been chosen by Travel Lemming as the best tourist destination in the world to travel to in 2024.

“Yucatán is home to 7 Magical Towns, hundreds of haciendas and cenotes, 378 kilometers of coast with calm emerald green and turquoise blue waters, Chichén Itzá, one of the Wonders of the Modern World, and 20 other archaeological sites to visit. It is the home of the living Mayan Culture, of extraordinary gastronomy such as cochinita pibil, relleno negro, papadzules, and many more. In Yucatán, we are ready to welcome travelers who are looking for a different and unforgettable trip.”

Travel Lemming assures that many travelers have released the pent-up travel thirst of the pandemic, “we believe that 2024 is the right time to slow down because, if travelers continue trotting the world at a dizzying pace, we run the risk of returning to the same old times. days of excessive tourism.”

The 2024 list is dominated by remote destinations and hidden local gems perfect for longer trips, including Gizo in the Solomon Islands (No. 2), Stavanger in Norway (No. 3), Phú Quốc Island in Vietnam (No. 6 ), and St. John’s, in Canada (no. 7).
