The Ministry of Public Security (SSP) reported one person injured in a traffic incident that required transfer to the hospital, and no people died during the Christmas operation in the city of Mérida, Periférico and state highways.
Of the five vehicle accidents recorded in the Christmas operation — between 6:00 p.m. on the 24th and 5:00 a.m. on the 25th — a total of 11 people had some type of minor injury treated on the spot by paramedics.
Christmas Operation 2023: No arrests in breathalyzers
Regarding the breathalyzer operation, there were no arrests because no driver had an alcoholic breath or was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The SSP ambulances carried out a hospital transfer of one injured in the aforementioned traffic incident and 28 people with different pathologies.
Merida firefighters provided several services, including four fires on properties, four garbage fires, and eight brush fires.
Christmas Operation 2023: 2,425 calls to 911 reported
The C5i Control Center received, between 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and 6:00 a.m. this Monday, a total of 2,425 calls to the 9-1-1 emergency number.
Of those calls, 1,043 were real, 1,347 were inappropriate and 35 were jokes.
Among the reports about real situations, the majority were due to complaints about loud music and the use of pyrotechnics.
The Road Assistance units attended 15 services to guides due to lack of fuel, electrical failure and other reasons.
Regarding the Christmas caravan that is part of the social proximity activities, the state police officers continued yesterday visiting neighborhoods and police stations in Mérida and the interior of the state.
They carried out various recreational activities with families and gave girls and boys toys and other gifts given by the State Government and others that were collected from relatives and co-workers.
