As part of the “Closer Mérida” program, the City Council, through the DIF Mérida, delivered orthopedic devices to the Cosgaya community with the purpose of influencing the improvement of the quality of life of people with physical disabilities.

During the delivery, the President of DIF Mérida, Verónica Cetina Arjona, pointed out that the “Mérida Cercana” program reminds us of the importance of supporting each other and extending a helping hand to those who face physical challenges to show that together we are stronger.

“This day, we not only give you orthopedic devices, but we offer you a tool to reach new horizons to overcome obstacles and to move forward with greater independence,” he said.

Likewise, he highlighted that the Municipal DIF is committed to promoting inclusion and facilitating the mobility of those who face physical challenges in their daily lives.

“The orthopedic devices program provides support to people with disabilities, allowing them to enable, rehabilitate and compensate for those motor and/or sensory functional limitations that help improve their quality of life. This delivery is a sign of the municipality’s support and support for its citizens,” he added.

Accompanied by the director of the Municipal DIF, Silvia Sarti González, the President of the DIF Mérida delivered various orthopedic devices such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, a four-prong cane, rollator walkers and a youth wheelchair.

María Amaya Canul, mother of the beneficiary Jorge Luis Aké Amaya, who received a wheelchair, thanked the Municipal DIF for the positive impact it will have on her son’s life, since due to the same motor disability it is difficult for her to help him with his mobility. .

“It is a blessing that the orthopedic devices arrive at my police station, thanks to this support, we can move forward,” he said.

After the delivery of orthopedic devices, the municipal authorities visited Magdalena Pech Euan, 76 years old, and Teudocia Baas Sulú, 72 years old, in their homes to give them standard wheelchairs, with the purpose that from now on they have tools that will help them. They will allow you to overcome barriers and participate in various activities of daily life.

It should be noted that the “Closer Mérida” program reaches all citizens of the different police stations in the city. The amount of deliveries made at the Cosgaya police station amounts to $63,448.52 pesos. For more information about this program you can contact (999) 928.04.56 ext. 80024.
