A crane operator dies in Progreso from an electric shock

Shortly before noon this Friday, December 22, an accident occurred that claimed the life of a crane operator who was carrying out his work in a neighborhood in this port.

The incident occurred minutes before noon when the operator of a crane was carrying out his work in the vicinity of a frozen fish company located on 19th Street between 18th and 20th in the Nueva Yucalpetén neighborhood.

The crane operator, who has not yet been identified, was in charge of lifting some beams for the roof of a warehouse being built in that place, where one of the walls of the new building prevented him from seeing the movement of the beam that He was holding the crane hook.

To carry out his work, he followed the instructions given to him by his colleagues to help him perform the maneuver correctly, however, at one point, the beam swung and ran into some medium voltage cables, which caused an accident electric shock that ran from the beam, and the arm of the crane, and reached the cabin where the operator was, who unfortunately died instantly.

His colleagues immediately notified the authorities and in a matter of minutes police from the municipal and state units, paramedics from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), and firefighters from the same corporation arrived at the site, but, unfortunately, there was nothing to do. because the man had lost his life. Agents from the State Investigation Police (PEI) also arrived to take data on what happened to clarify how the fatal accident occurred. Personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) also arrived to momentarily suspend the electricity supply and be able to rescue the body safely.
