Every year, during the first two weeks of December, people all over Mexico travel by foot, on bicycles, or motorcycles to visit temples of the Virgin of Guadalupe in different parts of the country.

On Saturday, December 9th, a group of parishioners “Guadalupanos” departing out of Kanasín, Yucatan; who were heading in a motorcycle taxi to Ciudad del Carmen, had a tremendous accident.

The terrible accident occurred on Saturday at kilometer 89 of the Mérida-Campeche highway when a truck hit a motorcycle taxi in which the “Guadeloupanos” were traveling.

Until now, the cause of why the trailer ran over the small vehicle, which was destroyed, is still unknown.

Two torchlighters from Kanasín were seriously injured when they were heading to a clinic in Chekubul, near Ciudad del Carmen.

But later on. they were treated by Red Cross paramedics and transferred to the IMSS Bienestar Calkiní.
