A truck loaded with beer caught fire on December 30 on the outskirts of Mérida, leaving extensive damage. The accident occurred a few meters from the bridge at the exit to Umán, right in front of the thermoelectric plant, when the truck was advancing on the far left lane to take the turnaround located there.

Smoke began to come out of the front and a few seconds later, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames that consumed dozens of cardboard boxes that had inside with beer bottles that began to break due to the heat.

Police assigned to that return immediately requested support from firefighters who fought the fire.

The truck was reduced to rusty iron and ashes, but the driver and his passenger were unharmed. Some cases of beer were saved, so in the driver notified his bosses and they went to the scene with another vehicle to take what was rescued.
