Due to the funeral of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s mother, Consuelo Loera Pérez, they closed the highway to La Tuna, a community that belongs to Badiraguato in Sinaloa, in whose area President Andrés Manuel López Obrador inaugurated a road.
Two days after the death of the mother of the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel who now remains imprisoned in a prison in the United States, a group of people blocked the path to that town.
And just last Tuesday, November 14, AMLO inaugurated the Badiraguato-Guadalupe and Calvo highway, a total of 140 kilometers in the vicinity of which is La Tuna, the place where one of the most wanted criminals in the United States was born.
According to the report by journalist Iván Macías, a group of people closed the passage to La Tuna because today, December 12, the funeral of the woman who died at the age of 94 would be held.
And last Sunday, December 10, Consuelo Loera, the mother of “El Chapo” Guzmán, died in a private clinic in Sinaloa, after falling ill and remaining hospitalized for two weeks.
The reporter reported on the closure of the road that leads to the community of La Tuna, to avoid access to the funeral of Chapo Guzmán’s mother. The reason is for privacy since the wake was held, then the funeral procession, and then the funeral of María Consuelo Loera Pérez.

But, in the images, you cannot see beyond the road to La Tuna, which appears empty.
And he added that, although the road is closed, there is no type of extraordinary surveillance for the funeral of Chapo Guzmán’s mother.
It turned out that Consuelo Loera suffered from respiratory problems that she had had since 2021 after contracting COVID-19, which affected her greatly due to her advanced age.
Although it is said that he had his complete vaccination schedule, the virus left him with consequences such as the inability to breathe normally when walking and a hoarseness that has never gone away.
The health of “El Chapo” Guzmán’s mother was aggravated by her advanced age, causing her death on December 10.
María Consuelo Loera Pérez had the dream, before dying, of seeing her son, “El Chapo” Guzmán, whom authorities arrested for the third time and extradited to the United States.
In 2020, the criminal’s mother asked AMLO for help to visit her son, but the president could do nothing to fulfill her wish to see the drug trafficker again, described as a bloodthirsty and ruthless killer.

“El Chapo” Guzmán’s mother, Consuelo Loera, was a woman of two sides because, on the one hand, she showed an apparent charitable side as a most devout Christian; and on the other hand, he defended tooth and nail a criminal, who he said in interviews was just a farmer.
What cannot be denied is that he always took care to give an image that was far from luxuries so as not to attract the attention of governments.
