An explosion inside an apartment left at least one person injured, identified as a woman of foreign origin, as well as several damages to the furniture.
The event occurred on the afternoon of December 29 in an apartment in Region 249 of Cancún, Quintana Roo, MegaNews reported.
Emergency services responded to the 911 report of a strong explosion in an apartment in the Sacbé subdivision where a woman identified as Lilia ‘V’, originally from Puerto Rico, resides.
The foreign citizen suffered first-degree burns on her hands and legs, so she was transferred to a hospital in the region for medical attention.
Unofficially, it was indicated that the woman would be a tourist who rented the apartment through the Airbnb platform.
According to preliminary information, the explosion was caused by an accumulation of LP Gas inside the property.
The firefighters proceeded to close the valve of a cylinder with a capacity of 10 kilos and the supply area that goes to the boiler was disconnected. There is speculation that the accumulation was due to human error. Regarding the material balance of the incident, damage to furniture and aluminum window glass in at least three rooms of the apartment was reported.
