On Friday, Dec. 1st, hundreds of Progreso families spent a special evening, after Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi in the company of his wife, the honorary president of the DIF, Alma Rosa Gutiérrez Novelo, held the traditional lighting of the Christmas Tree in Independencia Park.

Girls and boys were already looking forward to the presence of Santa Claus and the countdown with which he would illuminate, not only the enormous tree that adorns the main park but also the illusion that invades one of the most special times for them: Christmas.

Before this emotional moment, families enjoyed the performances by the students of the Children’s and Youth Folklore, Classical Dance, Jazz, and Adult Folklore workshops of the House of Culture, who weeks ago prepared with great effort and dedication to a Christmas story, told through music and dance, led by teachers José Luis Paredes and Emilio Vázquez.

During the event, attendees were also able to enjoy the participation of local entrepreneurs, who offered dishes, and desserts, among other products, as well as a photographic set with the presence of Santa Claus, who was already beginning to receive the first letters and words from affection from the children.

It is worth highlighting that, with this event, the Progreso City Council begins a series of Christmas activities that it has prepared for all families; Today, the Jurassic Trail theme park will light the Christmas Tree at 5 p.m.
