In a second attempt, Ivonne Ortega Pacheco, former PRI governor of Yucatán and today federal representative of the Citizen Movement, would be seeking to be a candidate for the presidency of the Republic. The first time he tried for the PRI was in 2017 and now he does it in his current party, according to information from the latter national political institute.
Yesterday, a photo of her smiling with her right fist raised and a text circulated on social networks in which it is said that: “The former governor of Yucatán, Ivonne Aracelly Ortega Pacheco would be the replacement for the presidential candidate Samuel García.”
“In the next few hours, this announcement will be officially confirmed by the national leadership of the Citizen Movement.”
Jesús Rivero, official spokesperson for Ivonne Ortega, did not confirm it, but neither did he deny it, he responded that: “We are in the session of the National Coordinator of MC. Today no decisions have been made regarding MC’s candidacy for the presidency.”
He added that: “Ivonne is part of the National Council of the Citizen Movement and also the National Coordinator. As national coordinator of Enlace Político, she actively participates in the deliberations. The determination of MC’s presidential candidacy will be made within the scope of these internal bodies. What was mentioned today in the session is that MC will take as much time as necessary to determine the presidential candidacy.”
“Also, as part of its internal responsibility, it is focused on consolidating candidates and adding new leadership throughout the country,” the spokesperson added.
In 2017, Ivonne Ortega threatened to register as a presidential candidate for the PRI, even bringing boxes with thousands of signatures that she claimed she had collected throughout the country supporting her candidacy. Finally, her party did not accept her, and that was when she began her break with the tricolor, for which she was mayor of Dzemul, local and federal representative, senator, and governor. Currently, Ivonne Ortega Pacheco is a national leader and federal legislator for MC.
