“Why do I celebrate it, even though it is one of those contracts that were created with the energy reform? Because it is in the hands of Mexicans and I am sure that they will invest to extract crude oil, that is, I consider, good news, that they are going to invest in this block to extract oil,”
added President López Obrador.
Carso acquired the entire stake of PetroBal in the Ichalkil–Pokoch oil fields< /span>, on the coast of Campeche.
Obrador insisted that he prefers that investments in the sector be from Mexican businessmen over foreign companies because with them Self-sufficiency is guaranteed in the sector, in addition to taxes from extraction and refining going directly to the Mexican treasury.
