Last weekend, violent events were reported in Guanajuato, resulting in several deaths, including an armed attack in the early hours of today at a party taking place in Salvatierra, which left 12 dead and 11 injured.
On Saturday night, an armed attack occurred in a barbershop in the center of Salamanca, Guanajuato, leaving four dead and three seriously injured.
The massacre in the early hours of Sunday, December 17, occurred at a party in the former Hacienda San José del Carmen, which is used for social events and is 8 kilometers from the municipal seat of Salvatierra.
According to one of the first reports from the municipal authorities, an armed commando arrived and shot at the attendees, leaving 11 people dead and 12 injured, 4 women and 8 men, who were hospitalized.
Likewise, members of the public security forces who responded to the report found burned cars and two motorcycles.
“We are in complete readiness and coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office for the prompt clarification and arrest of those responsible,” the mayor of Salvatierra, Germán Cervantes Vega, wrote on Facebook.

The victims were scattered on the floor, including several young women and men, who were in the celebration at the time the attackers entered the building.
The injured were taken to hospitals in Salvatierra and Celaya, where security elements stood guard.
In addition, five vehicles parked at the former ranch were set on fire by the murderers, who fled.
Salvatierra, with 95,000 inhabitants, is a tourist municipality in Guanajuato that in 2020 captured the world’s spotlight after the discovery of a grave with 66 bodies.
On Monday, December 18, during his usual morning conference, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, related the armed attack in which 12 young people were murdered in the early hours of Sunday in Guanajuato, with a “structural problem” in the region related to the increase in drug consumption.
“Guanajuato requires special attention. It is a fundamental structural problem, something that was allowed to grow due to different circumstances. “That strip is one of the areas with the most drug consumption in the country,” said the president.
He added, “That would have to be analyzed and how this drug trade was also created, how the operation of organized crime groups was allowed for so long, what relationship of the criminal organizations, their links, the agreements and how to prevent it from continuing to run”.
Since 2018, the year in which López Obrador assumed the presidency, Guanajuato has annually concentrated the largest number of intentional homicides in Mexico. This year, between January and November, the National Public Security System established that 2,875 people were murdered in the State, while in the country the number of victims is 27,354.
