Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal attended on Friday, December 22nd, the start of operations of Line Z of the Transisthmian Train, which connects the ports of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca with Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, in the Gulf of Mexico, an important project for Yucatán, as it will open a door with the commercial activity of the Pacific Ocean, through the connection of this railway with the Maya Train.

When referring to what the launch of the Transisthmian Train represents for the State, whose start of operation was led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Vila Dosal commented that this railway infrastructure work will contribute to lowering the logistical costs of bringing raw materials. from Asia to Yucatán, which means the opportunity to receive more companies that come to generate the jobs that Yucatecans need.

With this, a door opens to the Pacific, and this project joins the Mayan train. “We must remember that from Yucatán we have been working on a new border with the East Coast of the United States,” added the Governor.

Vila Dosal highlighted that the Transisthmian Train contributes to the economic development of Yucatán and the region since the connectivity they allow represents another competitive advantage for the State, which is combined with the quality of labor, security, and infrastructure that we have.

It must be remembered that Yucatán is experiencing a historic moment since 2021 was the year with the greatest economic growth in the history of the State and the year with the greatest job creation; 2022 was the year with the highest amount of foreign investment, the safest year in history, with the lowest incidence of crime, and in which the most tourists have come to the State.

In addition, strategic projects are being carried out to continue detonating the competitiveness of Yucatán, such as the expansion of the Mérida International Airport, the modernization of the Progreso High Port, the Progreso elevated viaduct, the construction of the two Cycle Power Plants. Combined and the growth of the natural gas pipeline.

Also, Vila Dosal highlighted other plans such as the Mayan train, launched on December 15, the technological well-being pole, the recently inaugurated “La Plancha” Great Park, which has become the best in the country; and the Ie-Tram, the first 100% electric route and the only one of its kind in Latin America, which is also already operating.

With this infrastructure, what is sought is to have a more competitive Yucatán, so that the entity has the opportunity to become the new commercial frontier of the east coast of the United States, which would make the southeast of Mexico achieve greater prosperity.

It is also worth mentioning that the efforts made to date have resulted in Yucatán being a benchmark in nearshoring, as it now occupies third place in the country in taking advantage of this phenomenon since the entity has a privileged location in the state that allows good road, rail, air, and port connectivity.

With all these advantages, the entity is actively promoted outside of Mexico, such as in the United States, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, South Korea and Spain, among others, since it is the ideal place to make investments, which is supported by the British consulting firm Deloitte, which in 2021 qualified Yucatán as the state with the best conditions to invest and in 2022 the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) placed Mérida among the first 10 most competitive cities in the country.
