Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda is a Mexican politician affiliated with the Movimiento Ciudadano (Citizens’ Movement) political party. He served as the Governor of Nuevo León from October 4, 2021, to November 20, 2023, and from November 28 to December 1, 2023. He was his party’s candidate for President of Mexico in the 2024 Mexican general election, but today he announced that he abandoned the presidential race.

Through an agreement issued, Samuel García made it official that he is leaving the presidential race and will continue in his position as constitutional governor of Nuevo León.

“I will not make effective the use of the Leave of Absence to participate in the 2023-2024 electoral process, since I have decided not to participate in the electoral race for President of the Republic,” the document states.

Before García’s official declaration, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation determined the legality of Luis Orozco elected as interim governor by the Congress of Nuevo León.
