QUINTANA ROO.- A boat with 12 tourists shipwrecked last Sunday night due to the rain, waves and strong winds of cold front 16.
According to what was found out, even though the port was closed and the captain knew it, the boat was sailing from the area, sailing from “El Cielo” in the direction of the Cozumel Pier .
Given the prevailing conditions, the boat succumbed about 500 meters from the coast and all its crew members fell into the water . Immediately, numerous service providers took on the task of rescuing the shipwrecked , with no losses to regret.
Once they were safe, Civil Protection personnel assessed all the boat’s crew.
Boat captain disappears
The Government Secretariat said that the captain and the sailor did not want to abandon the boat. So the strong currents dragged them out to sea.
However, the Ministry of the Navy (Semar) hopes to find them still alive.
