On October 2, during the announcement of Viva Aerobus international flights that connect Mérida with Orlando, Miami, and Atlanta; it was announced that starting this Saturday, December 16, the Mérida-Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) route will begin operations with a daily flight frequency.
The Viva Aerobus Mérida-AIFA route will cost from 169 pesos plus the Airport Use Fee (TUA) for a single flight, as stated at that event.
Currently, the airlines that offer flights from AIFA are Aeroméxico, Volaris, and Viva Aerobus.
Likewise, the Mexican State Airline S.A de C.V., a Mexican brand, that was created in May 2023 and is in charge of the Secretariat of National Defense, also plans a flight to Mérida from the AIFA, although it has not yet been announced. has announced the date of its launch.
It should be noted that the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) will close in 2023 among the 10 airports with the highest flow of passengers and cargo, in addition to having routes to half of the country.
According to the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), the AIFA mobilized, between January and October of this year, 2 million 132 thousand people, that is, a variation of 1.6 million people compared to 2022.
Today, AIFA offers flights to 16 of the 32 states that make up the Mexican Republic, thanks to the operations of Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobus, and Volaris. It also has routes to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and the United States.
