A woman died from injuries she suffered from a shark attack on the beach of Melaque Bay in Jalisco. The unprecedented incident caused consternation among bathers in Melaque Bay, a tourist center in the Cihuatlán municipality.
According to Civil Protection and Cihuatlán Firefighters, the events occurred on December 2 in the morning, when agents of the fire department received a report of a person with problems getting out of the sea in the aquatic park area.
“Upon arrival, we saw a woman without vital signs, and one of her legs was severed, apparently caused by a shark attack,” the rescuers indicated through a post on Facebook.
The video circulates on social media in which the woman is severely injured while passers-by in the area approach to help her, but she ends up dying from the injuries.
The woman was visiting this tourist destination in the company of her unharmed 5-year-old son.
Following these events, the scene was placed under guard by Public Security personnel while the authorities carried out the relevant investigations.
The closure of beaches on the south coast of Jalisco was announced by local authorities. Beaches will remain closed until further notice.
