A group of female animal rescuers demonstrated in front of the facilities of the Oral Justice Center of Mérida where a hearing took place in the case of “Rufo”, the dog that was beheaded in Chuburná last August.
The women raised their voices because they feared that the person linked to the process in this case, JCPE, would be released at the conclusion of today’s hearing, so they asked the authorities for justice for “Rufo” and jail for the alleged perpetrator, who remains in prison.
After a brief demonstration with tarps at the doors of the courts, the animal activists entered the building to request access to the public intermediate hearing in which, it is expected, the ministerial authorities will provide evidence to be able to bring the now linked person to trial.
It should be remembered that the case occurred on Saturday, August 12 in a home in the Chuburná de Hidalgo neighborhood. Residents reported to the 911 emergency number, that they saw JCPE when he was trying to bury the body of the headless animal, so they immediately informed the authorities and the group of women animal rescuers, including Mrs. Elsa Arceo, who led the protest at the doors of the Oral Justice Center of Mérida.
Finally, the animal rights defenders celebrated the court’s decision to keep the accused behind bars while his judicial process lasts.
