Cyclist dies on the Mérida to Chetumal highway

On the evening of Tuesday, January 9th, a cyclist lost his life on the Mérida-Chetumal highway after being hit by a cargo vehicle.

A Tornado-type truck with a closed box, driven by a person identified as Roger Balbino MR, was traveling on the aforementioned federal highway. Upon reaching kilometer 3, near the community of San Antonio Tehuitz, as the driver explained to the police, a tricycle that was being guided by the now deceased suddenly cut across him, but he could not avoid the collision.

Due to the injuries suffered by the cyclist, his death was almost instantaneous. However, the driver of the truck called the emergency number 911 to ask for help, so in minutes Kanasín police arrived at the scene, as well as paramedics who confirmed the death of the cyclist who has remained unidentified until now.

The place was secured and later federal and ministerial authorities arrived, along with the SEMEFO forensics experts who carried out the corresponding work to remove the body.
